MARSHALL - Memorial services for Chet Miller, 84, of Marshall are from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Holy Redeemer Carlin Hall. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with a brunch following.
Chester "Chet" LaVerne Miller was born Aug. 30, 1925, to Herbert A. and Bessie (Huey) Miller in Cottonwood. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. Chet worked at heavy duty construction on bridges and dams. He worked as a mining foreman at the OAHE Dam in Pierre, S.D., for seven and a half years. He drove for Swift and Company and Oak Grove Dairy. He also owned and operated Chet's Apco station and The One-Hour Dry Cleaners in Marshall. He recently worked part time at the Pro Car Wash as manager. Chet was a charter member (1969) of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Marshall and was the state president 1988-1989. He also enjoyed hunting, woodworking, planting flowers and watching the entertaining birds and squirrels that came to his back yard.
Survivors include his three children, Dennis (and Dorothy) Miller of Lucan, Bernadine (and Roy) Zinda of Walshville, Ill., and Duane (and Pat) Miller of Wentworth, S.D.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Harlan (and Audrey) Miller of Marshall; two sisters, Betty (and Hugo) Frahm of Lynd and Peggy Hendrickson of Arden Hills.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Archie, Russell, Bernie, Howard and Glen; Sister Josephine Hagstrom, and companion Delores Garland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall or the American Lung Association.
