Mustang volleyball drops to No. 16 in national coaches poll
The Southwest Minnesota State University volleyball team dropped one spot to No. 16 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 poll after receiving 302 points.
Concordia-St. Paul received all 32 first-place votes and a total of 800 points to remain No. 1.
SMSU went 1-1 this past weekend in conference play, defeating Augustana and losing to No. 18 Wayne State.
The Mustangs are now 19-7 overall and 9-5 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. They will host No. 11 Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State this weekend.
Niesche named NSIC defensive player of the week - again
The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference named Southwest Minnesota State University Kenzie Niesche defensive player of the week.
Niesche had 67 digs over the weekend for the No. 16 Mustangs, including a career-high 37 against No. 18 Wayne State on Saturday.
This is the second time this year Niesche has been named the NSIC defensive player of the week.
