MARSHALL - Gregorio Chacon Lopez, 37, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court Oct. 13 on a charge of controlled substance crime in the first degree. Lopez sold about 15 grams of cocaine for $1,200 on June 4 and 13 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Joel Solie was appointed Lopez's lawyer. Bail was set at $75,000 with no conditions and $50,000 with conditions of be of good behavior, obey all laws do not leave the state without permission and others.
MARSHALL - William Lee VanOverbeke appeared in Lyon County District Oct. 13. VanOverbeke is charged with harassment and stalking in one file. Vanoverbeke threatened to burn down a residence with the victim inside and made racial slurs in Marshall, the complaint alleges. VanOverbeke is charged with terroristic threats, disorderly and disorderly conduct in the second file. VanOverbeke engaged in obscene conduct and threatened to kill a victim on Sept. 3 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Stephen Ferrazzano was appointed VanOverbeke's lawyer. Bail was set at $10,000 with no conditions and no bail with conditions including reappear in court, obey laws and be of good behavior was also set. The court ordered a Rule 20 exam for both files.
MARSHALL - Mohamed Abid Mahat, 29, homeless, appeared in Lyon County District Court Oct. 15 on charges of terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and trespass. Mahat threatened to kill two victims and returned to an apartment after being warned not to return on Oct. 14 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Bail with no conditions was set at $20,000 and bail of $10,000 with conditions including do not enter bars or liquor stores, be of good behavior and obey laws was also set. Mahat must also his whereabouts to probation.
MARSHALL - Edward Dale Reno II, 20, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court Monday on charges of refusal to test, fourth degree driving while impaired, reckless driving and obstructing the legal process.
Reno drove dangerously, refused to cooperate with law officers, refused an alcohol test and drove under the influence of alcohol on Oct. 3 in Lyon County, the complaint alleges. Reno's lawyer Stephen Ferrazzano said Reno waived his court timeline. A plea hearing was set for Nov. 3.
MARSHALL - Joseph Rossado, 42, of Minneota appeared in Lyon County District Court Monday on charges of assault in the second degree. Rossado hit a victim multiple times, pinned the victim to a pool table and hit the victim with a pool ball on Oct. 3 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Lyon County Assistant Attorney Tricia Zimmer and Rossado's lawyer Cecil Naatz filed papers. An omnibus hearing was set for Nov. 3.
MARSHALL - Corwyn Troy Peterson, 41, of Lamberton did not appear in Lyon County District Court Tuesday in a motion hearing. Peterson's lawyer Stephen Ferrazzano made a motion that a third segment of Peterson's sentence be dismissed. The court continued the hearing until Nov. 3 and Peterson does not have to report to jail on Friday.
MARSHALL - Shawn Corey Seebeck, 31, of Cottonwood appeared in Lyon County District Court Tuesday on charges of second degree driving while impaired with aggravating factors of prior DWIs in 2001 and 2000 and driving after revocation. Seebeck drove while impaired with alcohol and with a revoked license on Oct. 7 in Lyon County, the complaint alleges.
MARSHALL - Christina Chavez, 24, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court Tuesday on charges of theft by wrongfully obtaining assistance and perjury. Chavez falsely signed welfare documents and did not report household income and received an overpayment in medical welfare assistance of about $1,000 from September 2008 to April in Lyon County, the complaint alleges. Chavez's lawyer Stephen Ferrazzano and Lyon County Assistant Attorney Tricia Zimmer filed papers. An omnibus hearing was set for Nov. 17.
MARSHALL - Melissa Jean Barker, 42, of Marshall pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Tuesday to a charge of controlled substance crime in the second degree. Barker sold 62 capsules containing an amphetamine on July 30, 2008 in Marshall, court records said. The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation. A sentencing hearing was set for December 15.
MARSHALL - Joseph Dale Bender, 30, of Marshall pleaded innocent in Lyon County District Court Tuesday to a charge of assault in the second degree. Bender stabbed and cut a victim on May 22, 2008 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. A jury trial was set for June 23-25.
MARSHALL - Kyle Brian Anderson, 25, of Lynd pleaded innocent in Lyon County District Court Tuesday to two counts of controlled substance crime in the fifth degree. Anderson sold an ounce of marijuana for $325 on July 24, 2008 and a half ounce of marijuana for $170 on Sept. 5, 2008 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. A jury trial was set for Jan. 13 and 14.
MARSHALL - Jasper Allen Pegel, 41, of Marshall pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Tuesday to a charge of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree. Pegel sexually assaulted a victim, a minor, from January to May 2008 in Lyon County, court records said. The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation. A sentencing hearing was set for Dec. 29.
MARSHALL - Jared John Graf, 30, of Tracy appeared in Lyon County District Court Wednesday on two counts of second degree driving while impaired with aggravating factors and charges of careless driving and failure to keep right in roadway. Graf drove with an alcohol concentration of .20 and on the left side of the roadway on May 30 in Tracy, the complaint alleges. A public defender was to be appointed. Graf was released without bail on conditions including reappear in court, abstain from alcohol and drugs and obey laws. A hearing was set for Nov. 3.
