I was also there in Amiret and know one of the alleged personally; I don’t think anyone called them “inept”. I think the way it ended was peacefully and that is what matters. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

ya know its real easy for all you geniuses to sit and criticise the law enforcement on how they handled this situation and call them inept but when its one of your butts in trouble then they are great how many of you would have rushed into that field and risked your life. I was over there in amiret personally on saturday during the search and I thought they handled it right and safely. I happen to know one of the guys involved in the robbery personally and ya know what hats off to the law enforcement and the way they handled it all.

I agree Tamera. They are lucky that there wasn't much corn left in that field. If it was still full, who knows how long that could have taken.

I think for anyone to run into a corn field is a little off the beam. Yes I know that is their job....bit isn't that like looking for a needle in a haystack? Just seemed like a whole lot of people involved for what seemed to be a break in at a restraunt and then we end up in the corn field?

They were all probably eating donut together anyway -- it just broke up the several hours of coffee and donut breaks that they take daily. Just drive by Mike's Cafe or Toni's Depot or any of those things...

All I can say is that the criminals were apprehended were they not? How many of YOU would put yourself out there in a dangerous situation?

A little respect please for the men and women who put themselves out on the front line for our safety.

Lucky it was under the jurisdiction of the Lyon Co. Sheriff and not the Marshall P.D. The Marshall P.D. would have never made it to Amiret because they would of spend too much time picking people up for Jay walking along the way. Not to change the subject but has anyone ever totaled up what the tax payers pay for public defenders in Marshall, because, police pick up people for no reason. Now when they are really needed they won't be available because they will be overwhelmed with minor offences. Something needs to change...

Monday morning quarterbackers are the experts. Sit in their chair and tell everyone how to do things after the fact.

It was not the Marshall Police dept in charge it was the SWAT or Emeregency Response Unit from Brown, Redwood & Lyon County. For you "experts" that were not on scene...Should've been there so you could've walked down the corn rows and been targets if the individual did have a weapon...it was unknown wether or not individual actually had weapon.

I am just glad it ended peacefully. I am not sure out of all the departments who had the 2 K-9 units but they did a great job.

Do YOU know the whole story?

MyComments

Wow. Those are a lot of comments from people who don't know the story. For starters, the arrest was in Amiret. It was under the jurisdiction of the Lyon County Sheriff, not the Marshall PD. Second, one of the two who were arrested was hiding in a corn field for nearly 4 or 5 hours and was believed to have had a handgun on him. So unless you would like to run blindly into a corn field after a guy who could potentially shoot you....I'd suggest you give them some leeway in how they respond to the situation.

If you people only knew what it takes in a situation like that. You shouldn't be negative when you don't know the whole story.
