Southwest Minnesota State University sophomore middle blocker Devin Diedrich was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference offensive player of the week.
Diedrich, a native of Braham, recorded 38 kills in two matches to help lead the Mustangs to victories over Winona State and Upper Iowa.
She had 15 kills against the Warriors on Friday and another 23 against the next day against the Peacocks. Diedrich finished with a .403 hitting percentage for the weekend.
This is Diedrich's first player of the week honor this season and the second of her career.
SMSU falls to No. 15
The Mustangs fell one spot and is now ranked No. 15 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 poll. The Mustangs received 363 points in the poll as voted on by Division II head coaches across the country.
Concordia-St. Paul received all 32 first place votes and a total of 800 points to top the national poll. Five Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams made the top top 25 poll.
SMSU went 2-0 last weekend, defeating Winona State and Upper Iowa to improve to 17-5 on the season and 7-3 in the conference.
SMSU is home this weekend, hosting St. Cloud State Friday and No. 1 ranked CSP Saturday.
