Barnstormers go 2-0 to open state tournament

The Southwest Barnstormers are off to a hot start in the Class B State Tournament, going 2-0 over the weekend with wins over Shoreview and Urbank.

The Barnstormers opened up their offense on Saturday, defeating the Shoreview Seahawks 10-0 in five innings after scattering 10 hits and committing no errors.

Brian Price started on the mound and struck out seven, while allowing just two hits and one walk.

Chuck Sendelbach went 3-for-3 with three doubles and a RBI, while Mike Wenninger went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Micky Seah had a double and three RBI.

Rob Petersen led the Barnstormers from the mound in a 5-0 win over Urbank Sunday in Belle Plaine. He struck out four and allowed just two hits and one walk.

Petersen also helped his own cause with a double and a RBI, while Terry Boelter had two RBI.

The Barnstormers will continue play Saturday against Fergus Falls at 5 p.m. in Jordan.
