MARSHALL - Jordan Lee Norgaard, 20, of Marshall admitted in Lyon County District Court July 31 violating his probation. Norgaard violated his probation by failing to abstain from alcohol, court records said. Norgaard was reinstated on probation and must complete 80 hours of Sentence to Serve, update a chemical use assessment and follow other conditions.,

MARSHALL - Shannon Crycle Dela Pena Hansen, 18, of Ivanhoe appeared in Lyon County District Court July 28 on charges of controlled substance crime in the third degree and controlled substance crime in the fifth degree-liability for crimes of another.

Hansen conspired with a person under 18 to sell a half-ounce of marijuana for $200 on Sept. 23 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. A plea hearing was set for Aug. 11.

MARSHALL - Michael Casey McGovern, 20, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court July 28 on a charge of controlled substance crime in the fifth degree-liability for crimes of another. McGovern arranged for the sale of one ounce of marijuana for $200 at his residence on April 16 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. A plea hearing was set for Aug. 11.

MARSHALL - Seth Andrew Micaiah Johnson, 25, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court July 28 on a charge of controlled substance crime in the fifth degree. Johnson sold one ounce of marijuana for $350 on March 16 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. A plea hearing was set for Aug. 11.

MARSHALL -Steven Ray Lawrence Clark, 23, of Sheldon, Iowa did not appear in Lyon County District Court July 28 in a probation violation hearing. Clark violated his probation by failing to obey all laws, failing to pay what he owes and failing to refrain from unlawful driving, probation alleges. Clark's lawyer Pam Neumann said Clark called and could not find a ride to court. A warrant was to be issued for Clark.

MARSHALL - Paul David Lightfoot, 55, of Marshall pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Aug. 3 to a charge of criminal damage in the first degree. Lightfoot scratched a victim's car by using a key and caused about $1,600 in damage, court records said. Lightfoot was sentenced to one year in jail which was stayed and placed on supervised probation for up to two years. Lightfoot must pay a $500 fine, complete 300 hours of Sentence to Serve and follow other conditions.

MARSHALL - Daniel Scott Bauer, 25, of Marshall pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Aug. 3 to a charge of dangerous weapon and a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bauer recklessly handled a sword and machete and swung it while others were present and possessed a drug pipe, court records said. Bauer was sentenced to 90 days which were stayed on the weapon charge.

Bauer must complete 140 hours of Sentence to Serve and was placed on supervised probation for up to one year. Bauer must to submit to random testing and follow other conditions. Bauer must pay a $50 fine on the second charge.

MARSHALL - Alan Clark Merritt, 55, of Porter admitted in Lyon County District Court Aug. 4 violating this probation. Merritt violated his probation by failing to complete treatment and programming, court records said. Merritt was sentenced to 180 days in jail and his unpaid fines were waived.

MARSHALL - Elizabeth Ann Sanow, 34, of Russell appeared in Lyon County District Court Aug. 4 on two counts of third degree driving while impaired with the aggravating factor of a prior DWI in 2006 and charges of no proof of insurance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sanow possessed a drug pipe and a small amount of a marijuana in her vehicle and drove with a blood alcohol concentration of .12 on April 15 in Lyon County, the complaint alleges. A plea hearing was set for Aug. 25.

MARSHALL - Gregory William Mengelkoch, 51, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court Aug. 4 on a charge of driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety. Mengelkoch drove with a canceled driver's license on May 16 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Marshall Assistant City Attorney Lori Buchheim and Mengelkoch's lawyer Stephen Ferrazzano filed papers. An omnibus hearing was set for Sept. 1.

MARSHALL - Mark Thomas Gruhot, 48, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court Aug. 4 on a charge of driving after cancellation-inimical to public safety. Gruhot drove with a canceled driver's license on May 21 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Marshall Assistant City Attorney Lori Buchheim had filed papers and Gruhot's lawyer Stephen Ferrazzano filed papers. An omnibus hearing was set for Sept. 1.

MARSHALL - Donald Hanson, 63, of Tracy pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Aug. 4 to a charge of check forgery. Hanson altered a $50 check so it appeared to be written to him instead of the business in January in Lyon County, court records said. The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation. A sentencing hearing was set for Sept. 1.

MARSHALL - Ricardo Alfredo Tavares, 22, of Minneota pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Aug. 4 to charges of assault in the fourth degree and obstructing the legal process. Tavares spit on a deputy and resisted a deputy on July 9 in Lyon County, court records said. Tavares received a stay of imposition on the first charge and was placed on supervised probation for up to three years. Tavares must serve 90 days in jail, have a chemical use assessment and follow other conditions.

On the second charge, Tavares was sentenced to one year in jail with 275 days stayed for up to two years. Tavares must serve his jail sentence concurrently. Two related charges were dismissed.
