MARSHALL - James Aubrey Bishop, 42, of Edgerton appeared in Lyon County District Court June 30 on a charge of issuance of a worthless check. Bishop wrote at least $200 in checks on a closed account on Aug. 4, 6, 9, 10. 12, 13 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Bishop's lawyer Stephen Ferrazzano had filed and Marshall Assistant City Attorney Lori Buchheim filed. A plea hearing was set for July 28.
MARSHALL - Melissa Jean Barker, 41, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court June 30 on a charge of controlled substance crime in the second degree. Barker sold 62 capsules containing an amphetamine on July 30, 2008 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. An omnibus hearing was set for July 14. Lyon County Attorney Cecil Naatz and Barker's lawyer Cecil Naatz had filed.
MARSHALL - Sie Leslie Merrimam, 29, of Fredericktown, Mo. appeared in Lyon County District Court June 30 on a charge of assault in the fourth degree-liability for crimes of another. Merrimam assaulted a victim because of the victim's race on June 15 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Lyon County Assistant Attorney Tricia Zimmer and Merrimam's lawyer Joel Solie filed papers. An omnibus hearing was set for July 24.
MARSHALL - Timothy Martin Zander, 23, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court June 30 on a charge of controlled substance crime in the fifth degree. Zander sold about 1/2 ounce of marijuana for $200 on Oct. 29 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Zander's lawyer Pam Neumann filed papers. An omnibus hearing was set for July 28.
MARSHALL - George Washington Strickland, 44, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court June 30 on a charge of theft. Strickland stole a stainless steel water tank valued at about $7,100 on April 28 in Lyon County, the complaint alleges. A request from Stickland's lawyer Joel Solie to amend the release order to allow Strickland to leave the state for work was granted by the court. A plea hearing was set for July 28.
MARSHALL - Curt Allen Hoffmann, 48, of Vesta appeared in Lyon County District Court June 30 on a charge of theft. Hoffmann made unauthorized orders of property, kept the property and sold it and stole more than $38,000 in the actions from January to March in Marshall, the complaint alleges. A jury trial was set. The court granted a request for Hoffmann to travel to Montana in July.
MARSHALL - Richard Howard Schultz, 22, of Cottonwood appeared in Lyon County District Court June 30 on charges controlled substance crime in the first degree and controlled substance crime in the fifth degree. Schultz sold 15.5 grams of cocaine for $780 and an ounce of marijuana for $200 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Schultz's lawyer Joel Solie filed papers. An omnibus hearing was set for July 28.
MARSHALL - Erick Tyler Johnson, 19, of Willmar appeared in Lyon County District Court June 30 in a probation violation hearing. Johnson failed to pay what he owes, failed to report to his probation agent, failed to advise his agent before changing address or employment and failed to abstain from the illegal use or possession of drugs, probation alleges. Johnson did not qualify for a public defender. Bail was set at $40,000 with no conditions and at $25,000 with conditions of reappear, do not leave the state without permission and others. A hearing was set for July 14.
MARSHALL - Benjamin Mark Rohlik, 23, of Lucan appeared in Lyon County District Court June 30 on charges of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and open bottle and two counts of third degree driving while impaired with the aggravating factor of a prior DWI in 2006. Rohlik drove with a blood alcohol concentration of .19, with an open beer can in the vehicle, fled from law enforcement in the vehicle and drove dangerously on April 19 in Lyon County, the complaint alleges. The court will take the case under advisement after Rohlik's lawyer and Lyon County Attorney Rick Maes file briefs.
MARSHALL - Drew Michael Laleman, 23, of Marshall pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court June 30 to a charge of harassment and stalking. Laleman repeatedly called a victim and made threats in January and February in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Laleman was sentenced to on year in jail with 335 days stayed and placed on up to two years of supervised probation. Laleman must serve 30 days, have a chemical use assessment and follow other conditions.
MARSHALL - David Jose Swanson, 29, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court June 30 in a sentencing hearing on a charge of driving after cancellation. Swanson was sentenced to one year in jail with 345 days stayed and placed on up to two years of supervised probation. Swanson must serve 20 days in jail, pay a $300 fine and follow other conditions.
