Marshall Blue goes 2-2 in Watertown
The Marshall Blue VFW baseball team went 2-2 at the Watertown Tournament over the weekend, including wins over Aberdeen (S.D.) and Coon Rapids.
Blue lost to Yankton (S.D.) on Saturday and then lost to Omaha-Burke on Sunday.
Spencer Buss went 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI in the tournament opener against Yankton. Brian Stegner went 1-for-2 with a RBI. Alex Fenske was the losing pitcher as Marshall lost 11-2.
Marshall defeated Aberdeen 7-4 with Buss going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI. Fenske went 2-for-4 with a RBI and Aaron Antony went 1-for-4 with a double and a RBI. Tyler Alcorn also had a double and a RBI. Riley Carpenter was the winning pitcher.
Omaha-Burke won 5-2 as Buss and Antony both went 2-for-4. Michael Danahar was the losing pitcher.
Marshall rounded out tournament play with a 4-2 win over Coon Rapids. Nathan Werner had a hit and a RBI, while Antony had a double and a RBI. Werner was also the winning pitcher after coming in for relied in the fifth inning for Ben Sanders.
Marshall is now 9-10 on the season and will continue play today as hosts to Tracy.
