TRACY - Services for Agnes Busch, 92, of Tracy will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tracy. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Tracy.
Agnes Teresa (Wyffels) Busch was born June 27, 1916, to William and Anna (Stassen) Boerboom in Ghent. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended St. Eloi School in Ghent. As the oldest of eight children, she was dedicated to helping raise her younger siblings. Aggie remained at home until her marriage.
On Jan. 9, 1946, Aggie married Gordon J. Wyffels at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. They made their home on a farm northwest of Tracy She spent the next 28 years supporting the farm operation and helping raise their four children.
She and Gordon were active members of St. Mary's parish in Tracy. Aggie was a dedicated homemaker, seamstress, gardener and was an active member of the Monroe Friendship Club for 62 years. She had a special gift of hospitality, loving to entertain for card parties and various gatherings of family and friends. Aggie was also well known for her lemon meringue pie. Going to dances all around the area was a favorite pastime, and she and Gordie also hosted many dances in the basement of the family farm. She was a long time member of the Tracy Country Club and also enjoyed bowling at Tracy Lanes as well. A special achievement of Aggie's in 1956 was selling the most subscriptions in a newspaper contest for the Marshall Messenger, of which the winning grand prize was a 1957 Buick Special. Following Gordon's sudden death in 1974, Aggie moved into Tracy.
On Sept. 4, 1980, Aggie married Earl A. Busch at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tracy. They spent 27 years wintering in Mesa, Ariz., dancing, golfing and playing cards, with their friends and families. In later years Aggie also became an avid Minnesota Twins fan, watching almost all games to their completion and sharing play-by-plays with her family.
On Sunday, June 14, 2009, Aggie peacefully left this world to be with her savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 92. She will be remembered for her smile, her zest for life and positive attitude, love for her family and friends, and her deep faith and prayer life.
Agnes is survived by her loving husband, Earl Busch of Tracy; three daughters, Nancy Vershey of Bloomington, Sharon (and Tom) Engels of Woodbury, and Janet (and Ted) Middleton of St. Louis Park; one son, Doug (and Diane) Wyffels of Fort Collins, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 21 one great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (and Howard) Bromen of Marshall, and Shirley (and Ken) Verschaetse of Ghent; one brother, Harold (and Pat) Boerboom of Glenwood; one sister-in-law, LaVonne (and Charles) Lutz of Marshall; Earl's two sons, Doug (and Joanne) Busch of New Brighton, and Tom (and Lorraine) Busch of Slayton; two grandchildren, Andrew and Brianne; one great grandson, Logan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Her parents, first husband, Gordie Wyffels, grandson, Kory Vershey, grandson-in-law, Patrick Kampmeyer, three brothers, Don (Vivian), William "Billy" and Richie Boerboom, one sister, Margaret (Del) Fox, and sister-in-law, Betty (Omer) Peterson preceded her in death.
