Long Sox come on late to beat Essig 12-1The Lamberton Long Sox scored seven runs in the ninth inning to cap off a 12-1 road victory Sunday over Essig.
Lamberton's Matt Samyn went 4-for-5 with two double and a triple for three RBI on the game, while Derek Jenniges went 2-for-4 and Isaac Jenniges went 2-for-5.
Samyn also earned the victory from the mound after pitching seven shutout innings, striking out five.
The Long Sox improve to 7-3-1 on the season and will continue play Wednesday on the road against Sleepy Eye beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Hadley Buttermakers split in a doubleheader Sunday with a loss to Spencer and a win over the Milroy Irish.
Spencer scored 10 runs in the second inning to go on to defeat the Buttermakers 13-5.
Taylor Rignell had two hits and two RBI for the Buttermakers, while James Wajer had a triple.
The Buttermakers went on to defeat the Milroy Irish 16-6, highlighted by five runs in the first inning and six runs in the fifth.
Luke Beers had two hits and six RBI, including a grand slam.
Wajer, Paul Counter and Matt Ackerman all had three hits.
Hadley improves to 3-1 on the season and will continue play on Wednesday on the road against Pipestone at 7:30 p.m.

The Milroy Irish won its first game in program history on Sunday with a 16-5 win over Luverne.
Andy Ogdahl and Anthony Dolan both drove in three runs each, while Aaron Ogdahl wen 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. Andy Ogdahl went 3-for-5 from the plate and Dolan went 2-for-3.
Alex Jones earned the win from the mound for the Irish after pitching all seven innings, striking out seven, walking five, allowing five hits and five runs - four earned.
With the win, Milroy improves to 1-5 on the season and will continue play Sunday on the road against Minneota at 2 p.m.

Andy Schmidt went 3-for -5, including a three-run home run for three RBI to help lift the Milroy Yankees to a 9-2 win Sunday over Norway Lake/Sunburg.
Behind Schmidt, Brian Dolan went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a double. Eric Dolan went 3-for-5 with a RBI and Dave Schmidt went 2-for-5 with a RBI.
Nathan Deutz started on the mound for the Yankees and went five innings allowing one run on six hits and three walks. He fanned five.
Andy Williamson came in for relief in the sixth and closed out the game striking out seven while allowing just one run on two hits.
Milroy is now 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the Cornbelt League and will continue play Friday as hosts to New London-Spicer.

The Rosen Express' offense heated up to score 16 runs en route to defeating the Canby Knights 16-10 Saturday in Canby.
Rosen's Justin Stamp and Evan Kraft each had doubles and Travis Rodemacker had a home run.
For the Knights, Peter Haugen went 3-for-6 with two doubles, while Justin Girard went 2-for-4 with a double.
Tony Ross started on the mound for Canby and pitched six innings, allowed 13 runs - five earned - on nine hits and three walks.
Canby drops to 0-3 on the season and will continue with a doubleheader on the road against Wheaton and Chokio.
