MARSHALL - A Little Falls man, 43, was charged in Lyon County District Court last week for driving over another man in the parking lot at the Best Western on East College Drive, the complaint alleges.

Darryl Eugene Rekowski of Little Falls is charged with four counts of criminal vehicular injury, two counts of fourth degree driving while impaired, two counts of hit and run and a count of violation of restricted driver's licenses.

The victim is also a man from Little Falls and had multiple fractures to his pelvis and a broken ankle, and was airlifted to a hospital, the complaint said.

Witness statements contained in the complaint said Rekowski and the victim were arguing before Rekowski ran over the victim with the rear tires of a pickup truck. Rekowski was inside the driver's side of a pickup when he started to drive away in the parking lot while the victim fell and Rekowski ran the victim over with the rear driver tires of the pickup on April 28 in Marshall, the complaint alleges.

Rekowski did not stop at the scene and had driven after consuming alcohol which is in violation of his license, the complaint alleges.

Three witnesses told police they saw Rekowski and the alleged victim arguing and two said they saw Rekowski grab the alleged victim by the throat, statements in the complaint said.

The witnesses said the alleged victim fell at the side of the pickup truck as Rekowski drove away and was run over by the rear tires, statements in the complaint said.

Rekowski told police he dropped the alleged victim at a nearby restaurant and denied hitting anything except speed bumps, a statement contained in the complaint said. Rekowski said in court last week he intends to hire a lawyer.

Bail with no conditions was set at $20,000 and bail with conditions including be of good behavior, submit to random testing and abstain from drugs and alcohol was also set. A Rule 8 hearing was set for May 12.
