MARSHALL - Mass of Christian Burial for Elaine Nemmers, 91, of Marshall, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be from 57 p.m. today with a Parish Prayer Service at 6 p.m. at RehkampHorvath Funeral Home in Marshall and from 910:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Bird Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Marshall Lyon County Library.
Elaine passed away peacefully Saturday, March 21, 2009, surrounded by her family at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall.
Elaine Walleen Nemmers was born Jan. 22, 1918, in Olivia, to Lloyd and Hulda (Eckwall) Walleen. She was a country school teacher in rural Olivia until her marriage to George Nemmers on April 11, 1942. They lived in Bird Island until 1961 when they moved to Appleton. She moved to Marshall in 1994. Elaine loved her family, enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, and reading. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her daughters Judy (and Jim) Johnson and Barb Nemmers, and son Bob (and Kathy) Nemmers; grandchildren Jennifer (and Josh) Tormoen, Erica Johnson, Brian Nemmers, and Scott Nemmers; great-grandchildren Lindsey Melchior, Jake Tormoen, and Zack Tormoen.
She was preceded in death by her husband George, son Tommy, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
