MARSHALL - Jorge Castillo Martinez, 28, of Marshall appeared in custody in Lyon County District Court Feb. 6 in a sentencing hearing. Martinez was sentenced on an aggravated forgery charge. Martinez used a fake identification to obtain employment in October 2005 in Marshall, court records said. Martinez was sentenced to prison for five years and received a stay of execution. Martinez must serve 90 days, pay a $500 fine, submit to random testing and follow other conditions.
MARSHALL - Charyl Rae Maeyaert, 40, of Hector admitted in Lyon County District Court Feb. 6 violating her probation. Maeyaert failed to maintain contact with her probation agent, failed to pay a fine, fee and surcharge and failed to remain law abiding, court records said.
MARSHALL - Adam Martinez Alonzo, 30, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Jan. 27 in a probation violation hearing. The court found Alonzo in violation of his probation. Alonzo violated his probation by failing to remain law abiding and failure to remain law abiding, court records said. Alonzo was sentenced to 48 months in prison and must pay what he owes.
MARSHALL - Scott Russell Brown, 29, of Hanley Falls appeared in Lyon County District Court Feb. 3 on charge of possessing pornographic work involving minors. Brown had pornographic work involving minors on his work computer in November in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Lyon County Attorney Rick Maes requested a continuance. The hearing was continued to March 3.
MARSHALL - Scott Alan Sundvahl, 20, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court Feb. 3 on a charge of controlled substance crime in the fifth degree-liability for crimes of another. Sundvahl and an accomplice sold drugs for $100 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. The court found probable cause for the charge. A plea hearing was set for Feb. 17.
MARSHALL - Kevin Dean Cleveland, 30, of Russell appeared in Lyon County District Court Feb. 3 on a charge of theft-liability for crimes of another. Cleveland and an accomplice stole a snowblower and chain saw valued at $1,780 from one victim, stole a catalytic converter from a second victim, stole two catalytic converters from a third victim and stole 130 gallons of fuel from a fourth victim from Aug. 14-Dec. 24, the complaint alleges. The court found probable cause for the charges. A plea hearing was set for Feb. 17. Cleveland was released on prior conditions.
MARSHALL - Shane Matthew Heinis, 21, of Marshall pleaded innocent in Lyon County District Court Feb. 10 on three counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor. Heinis furnished alcohol to three people under 21 on Dec. 4 in Lyon County, the complaint alleges. A jury trial was set for April 29.
MARSHALL - Bjorn Roy Christensen, 33, of Milroy appeared in Lyon County District Court Feb. 10 on two counts of third degree driving while impaired with the aggravating factor of a prior DWI in 1998 and charges of driving after cancellation and equipment violation. Christensen drove with a blood alcohol concentration of .16, with a revoked driver's license and no rear license plate on his vehicle on Dec. 12 in Lyon County, the complaint alleges. Lyon County Assistant Attorney Tricia Zimmer and Christensen's lawyer Cecil Naatz filed papers. An omnibus hearing was set for March 10.
MARSHALL - Amber Dawn Taarud, 22, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court Feb. 10 on charges of theft and theft by swindle. From July 2007 to December 2008, Taarud made fraudulent transaction charges while at her employer and stole about $11,000, the complaint alleges. Taarud's lawyer Stephen Ferrazzano filed documents. An omnibus hearing was set for March 10.
MARSHALL - David Jose Swanson, 29, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court Feb. 10 on a charge of driving after cancelation-inimical to public safety. Swanson drove with a canceled driver's license on Jan. 11 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. The hearing was continued to March 10.
MARSHALL - Jorge Castillo Martinez, 28, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court Feb. 10 on charges of burglary in the first degree-liability for crimes of another and assault in the fifth degree. Martinez and/or an accomplice broke into a bedroom of a residence and Martinez choked the victim on Nov 28 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Martinez's lawyer Pam Neumann said a plea agreement had been reached. A plea and sentencing hearing were set.
MARSHALL - Anthony James Isaackson, 23, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court Feb. 10 on charges of second degree driving while impaired-test refusal and third degree DWI, both with the aggravating factor of a prior DWI in 2008. Isaackson drove while impaired with alcohol and refused an alcohol test on Jan. 25 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Isaackson's lawyer Stephen Ferrazzano had filed papers. A plea hearing was set for March 10.
MARSHALL - Steve James Dawson, 23, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court Feb. 10 on a charge of no no-fault insurance with prior convictions in 2006 and 2007. Dawson did not have no-fault insurance for his vehicle on Dec. 1 in Marshall, the complaint alleges. Marshall Assistant City Attorney Lori Buchheim and Dawson's lawyer Stephen Ferrazzano filed papers. An omnibus hearing was set for March 10.
