MINNEOTA - Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew Claeys, 78, of Taunton, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. parish prayer service at the Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Minneota. Visitation will continue from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Minneota.

Andrew Henry Claeys was born Nov. 30, 1930, in Eidsvold Township, to Emil and Sophie (Moorse) Claeys. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Minneota High School in 1949. On March 26, 1951, Andy was united in marriage to Marilyn Anderson at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Canby. The couple farmed near Porter for a couple of years before making their home and raising their family on a farm West of Minneota. In 2003, Andrew and Marilyn moved to their home in Taunton. He was very active at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. He sang with the choir and served as an usher and on the Parish Council. Andy also served on the Taunton Elevator Board. Andy enjoyed bowling, hunting, playing cards, especially bein, tinkering in his shop and spending time with his grandchildren.

Andy died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at the Hendricks Hospital in Hendricks.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, of Taunton; children Greg Claeys of Belgrade, Mont., Brad (and Sally) Claeys of Lexington, Va., Jeff (and Cindy) Claeys of Porter, Jordan (and Joanne) Claeys of Dallas, Texas, Lisa (and Daryl) Grunst of Chaska and Mary Lyn Claeys of Chaska; nine grandchildren and sisters Evelyn Millard of Fergus Falls and Jeanette (and Don) Hoberg of Minneota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Mark, grandson Cody, sisters Marie Janssen and Bertha Tholkes and brother Joseph Claeys.
