SPECIAL MEETING - SHERIFF INTERVIEWS
September 30, 2008
8:00 AM-Meeting called to order by Chairman Goodenow. Members present: Fenske, Ritter, Goodenow, Stensrud Nelson, County Administrator Stomberg, and Auditor/Treasurer Van Overbeke.
Absent: Attorney Maes.

Fenske moved, seconded by Ritter to approve the agenda. All voted in favor.
Stensrud moved, seconded by Goodenow to hire Mark Mather as the County Sheriff. Nelson-I think the better way to be would be to pass the ballots again. I think that would be the smartest way. Fenske - We are just leaving the vote open. Stensrud withdrew the motion. Stomberg - Three for Mathers and two for McKenzie. Stensrud moved, seconded by Goodenow to appoint Mark Mather as the Sheriff effective October 1, 2008 and subject to terms of a labor agreement to be determined at the October 7 Board Meeting.
Voting in favor: Stensrud, Goodenow, Fenske
Opposed: Ritter, Nelson
Motion carried 3 to 2.
Stomberg - Are we going to discuss terms of employment? I will work on the swearing in part. I will ask if he will accept it. Ritter - And what about wages? Stomberg-Yes at the next meeting.
Goodenow-Do we want to make a motion to hire him tomorrow? Dahls retirement party is today from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Fenske - So we will get the information on the salary? Ritter - The range is 62 to what? So it could go down? Ritter moved, seconded by Stensrud to adjourn. All voted in favor.
