Mobile training held at Merit Training Center

The flames were large and hot inside a mobile training unit operated by Hennepin Technical College Wednesday and Tuesday at the Merit training center in Marshall. Volunteer firefighters from departments in Marshall, Balaton, Ghent, Lynd and other departments in Lyon County trained inside the mobile unit Tuesday and Wednesday. The fires were controlled burns or ignitions inside rooms found in homes, including a basement-type room, inside the mobile unit. The unit is one of 10 in the nation and the only mobile unit in the upper midwest, Tim Bergersen of Hennepin Technical College said.
