A strip of artificial surface was laid down Thursday afternoon on the north side of the Regional Events Center (REC) on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State. The complete surface is expected to be placed down by the end of July. The SMSU football team begins practice Aug. 7 with its first game on Aug. 30 against Minnesota-Crookston at the REC.
