CURRIE — Services for Erik Tommeraasen will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton with a prayer services at 7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Burial is at Slayton Memorial Gardens Slayton.
Erik passed away in the loving presence of his family and close friend on May 14, 2008, at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Erik Tommeraasen was born Dec. 17, 1969, in Minneapolis, to Courtney and Karen Pierson Tommeraasen. He grew up in Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1988. Following high school Erik attended Willmar Vocational and Technical College in Willmar for auto body repair. Following his graduation in 1991 he started working for Don and Verns Ford Dealership in Willmar. In 1993 he moved to Currie and worked for TC Auto Body in Slayton. Erik later worked in equipment and machinery fabrication. He most recently was working in construction of ethanol plants. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton. Erik enjoyed spending time with his family, riding bike, snowmobiling, running with his dog, fixing cars, art, and music and also playing his guitar. Erik loved reading, watching the History Channel and educational programs on PBS to learn about new things.
Survivors include his two sons, Caleb Ruppert and Craig Tommeraasen, both of Marshall; his parents, Courtney and Karen Tommeraasen of Slayton; one sister, Karna Tommeraasen of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins; his friend Jean; and his faithful dog Saidey.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Blanche Pierson, and Albert and Mildred Tommeraasen, and one cousin, Susan Engebretson.
