Anyone who wants to watch “Iron Man” or “Baby Mama” this weekend without trekking to another city can now go to the newly-renovated Marshall 6 Theatre. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. today.
The theater has been closed since March 31.
Greg Carter, the operations manager of Cinema Entertainment Corp., said Marshall 6 has received a complete remodeling.
Theaters 1, 2, 3 and 4 were gutted and stadium seating was installed. The seats will be on risers for a better sight line, Carter said.
Theaters 5 and 6 have gotten new seats also. Rockers have been installed with high backs and cupholders. Spacing between rows has been widened for more leg room.
Curtains on the sides of the auditoriums have been installed for better acoustics — “no echo,” Carter said.
Theater 4, the big one where the latest “Indiana Jones” movie will eventually play, has a curved screen for better viewing.
The lobby has undergone extensive remodeling — a paint job, new carpeting and a reconfigured concessions area. The old concessions behind the ticket booth has been removed and a longer concession installed which faces the street, allowing for a larger lobby area.
“We have four registers,” Carter said. “Before, there were two. It will be a lot quicker.”
The outside of the building will eventually receive a new paint job. Six new poster frames have been installed on the outside as well and will list when a movie is playing.
“People can drive by and see what’s playing and when,” Carter said.
The theater is owned by Cinema Entertainment Corp. which bought the business from Scott Hiller of Marshall, who still owns the building.
Carter said Hiller and CEC are “very excited” for the re-opening.
“People in Marshall will be very happy with the changes,” he said.
