Wis. worker who fell from bridge getting better

November 27, 2013

LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — A 19-year-old construction worker who suffered life-threatening injuries when he fell 40 feet from the Interstate 90 bridge over the Mississippi River is now recovering "extraordinarily well" from his injuries according to his employer.

Logan Goodell of Wheeler fell on Nov. 7 as he was installing concrete forms. He was still strapped into his harness when rescuers reached him.

The La Crosse Tribune reports Wednesday that Goodell is still hospitalized. But an official with Ames Construction, the contractor, says he's getting stronger every day. He says Goodell is determined to make a full recovery.

A new I-90 bridge connecting Minnesota and Wisconsin is under construction near Dresbach, Minn. The Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the man's fall.
