FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota State Fair officials say there was a huge attendance spike on Sunday after cooler weather finally swept in.
Monday is the final day of the Fair. Spokeswoman Brienna Schutte tells KARE-TV that Sunday's attendance was over 200,000 (http://kare11.tv/15mr3pr ).
The all-time record for final Sunday attendance is 229,000 people. Definitive numbers will be released later Monday.
Last week's sweltering heat kept away thousands, with attendance one day failing to crack 100,000. Food vendors are hoping the last-minute cool stretch helps them make up for business lost during the heat wave.
