Please do not lower the speed limit on 23. It is a bypass. I use it to avoid traffic, people, etc. to safely & swiftly travel around Marshall. (lowering the speed may encourage folks to 'race' through town instead). Instead, build safe over/under/bypasses or restrict access onto Hwy 23 to safe intersections.

If you want the speed limit lowered, I strongly urge you to cross or enter Hwy 23 at one of the two existing stoplights. At that point the cross-traffic is completely stopped, which is even safer than 40 MPH.

Some folks in Marshall seem to believe that Highway 23 is similar to a city street. Maybe MnDOT should give 23 to Marshall to use as that city street and build a by-pass around Marshall. That way, people wouldn't need to enter your fair city at all. If folks are so afraid of "speed killing" out on highway 23, why not take alternate routes and avoid the trauma associated with driving 55.
