Superintendents are a dime a dozen. Just don't give Willert anymore than his current contract and do not hire Dan Diette.

You may be an expert in not having merit but the fact is kids were put at risk this morning due to the road conditions.

Giving the plows and salt a couple of hours to do their jobs is worth a lot more than those two hours spent in school. 1 death because of road conditions is all it will take to put that into perspective.

farmkid - lots of people out driving this morning, myself included. The roads were "fine". Mr. Willert is a Superintendent, not MNDOT Supervisor or Meteorologist. Sure, he has responsibility for the safety of our children - but also in charge of ensuring their education. How many were hurt in bus transit this morning? - None. How many received school education this morning? - All. Pick on performance if you have something specific to share, but this is a wacky argument with no merit.

I'm thinking about kids on a bus and the other drivers out there. It's all a part of the sup.'s job, whether you consider it or not.

I wouldn't base a superintendent's effectiveness on whether or not he calls school two-hours late or cancels it. Besides, as Minnesotans, if we couldn't make it around by leaving early, taking our time, and using caution on this morning's roads, then we need to consider if we should be living in this particular climate.

Keloland had it in Lyon county this morning yet. Sorry, I didn't follow-up on it any further. That doesn't change any of the other conditions though.

As of 10pm last night the winter storm warning in Lyon county was cancelled.

Well now, as of this morning, Lyon county was in a winter storm warning, the highways north, east, and south of Marshall were listed as difficult driving conditions, and the wind was in the 20's. Marshall public certainly made the right call "for the sake of our children's safety." I wonder if Brainerd ever gets weather...

I could not agree more. He has been an absolute gift from God for Marshall. If he were to leave, MPS would never be able to replace him. Brainerd, if you are reading this, don't you dare take him away!!!

In my eyes Willert has done a great job as a superintendent! He has helped this school district grow and achieve better and higher academic standards. He has made a beautiful highschool inside and out. Has included more higher level classes. Also he has helped the community as taking the role of a rotarian. I also know he has done many positive things to help the school by working to improve safety, technology, and programs from day 1. If he leaves i know he will be missed by many!

If Willert wants to leave, don't give him a raise to stay. Too often they use this stunt to try and increase the wages they get. If it isn't good enough, go!!

Not many jobs where you can keep yours while openly soliciting another. Multiple times. Is there a search committed working yet?

Agree with the first three comments. Time for a change. Board and sup. Marshall ISD is a district with a beautiful high school but it's hollow inside. So to play the game Willert is a wonderful sup. NOT! He has demonstrated poor vision, bad decisions, and created an atmosphere of separateness between adm and teachers. The good ones with options leave and ones who can't have tolerated the atmosphere. The Board has allowed this mentality to exist. Shame on them!

Blasphemer, we would love to see your name on the ballot this year-there will be 3 positions up for election. Although you won't be able to remain anonymous.

Best way to get rid of a sup. is to make him glow with praise. Nobody's going to hire him if he's got negative comments. That's how RTR got stuck.

They can have this clown. The problem is we don't have a school board that knows how to hire a competent superintendent.

Nobody say anything to Brainerd, and let's help Willert with his resume'.
