This is good news for all the people who want to cut, cut, cut. Who really pays for these cuts?

Maybe - but they should be making some offsetting money via online advertising without some of the overhead costs (paper/printing).

Maybe it would have made a diffence had more people paid for subscriptions instead of reading the paper online for free.

It is tough to lose the jobs, but probably a prudent move that ensures continued employment for others. It appears that keeping the printing in Marshall was a losing proposition. Insinuating that they aren't supporting local jobs is a stone that I wouldn't cast - I see it the other way, many jobs are being kept here - not all moved elsewhere.

This really saddens me. We have a local paper that isn't supporting local employment. Some of the people being let go have been there 20+ years. I wish all of them the best of luck on finding something new.

There is a 2 lane road 20 or so feet from the frontage road the city is talking about eliminating money. Would make a better parking lot anyway. Isn't that smart to consider?

And, businesses do come and go. In my opinion, we had a saturation of similar stores - hopefully K-Mart's closing is another's beginning. It's a pretty prime retail location - especially for a store with a pharmacy.

I might add that with K-mart closing that area would make a great space for some more soccer and ball fields.

I can see we are well on our way to being a Regional Sports and economic center. We are even thinking about eliminating a street by Mike's Café to save money. WTF
