@Justheretosay - "He should never have been hired to MCMC. Doctors and a past work history in Atkinson,NE confirm that. This is not the first place he has tried running into the ground - maybe better background checks and people actually taking inconsideration why former employees of his would call and tell them not to hire him should be taken into account!!"

This information is completely unfounded, slanderous, and defamatory rumor.

The fact is that Mel Snow took action against an employee in Atkinson who had allegations of misconduct with a patient. The employee in question raised a small town public outcry against Mel because he knew that the allegations of misconduct could not be brought forward because of legal consequence. Sound familiar?

I wonder what that big new building will be used for when all the doctors and nurses are driven away. Maybe the board should contact Starbucks or Caribou to see about getting them to lease the front coffee shop? Many of your patients were willing to drive 25 miles or more to see staff who we valued and trusted. We will now follow these doctors or nurse practitioners wherever they go, if we can. Maybe Mr. Snow and the board think they could just throw on a uniform and step in and fill the staff shortages they caused? I don't think any of them even remotely understand the education, dedication, and sacrifice your staff members have to have to do their jobs. The problem is, your tactics have made it unbearable for them to continue. Just WHO is the board supposed to represent? And Mr. Snow just WHO are you supposed to be working on behalf of!? Do the decent thing and ask the board to release you from your contract, and then, they can follow you out the door.

It doesn't take a leadership or management expert to diagnose the problem and the cure in this toxic work environment.... Mr. Snow needs to be escorted out of the Murray County Medical Center and we need to (as Murray county citizens) examine the effectiveness of our commissioners. This has gone on long enough.....

"We have an excellent medical staff and if people decide to resign, that's because of their personal reasons. I know the medical staff supports the board and the administration." -Snow This quote represents OBVIOUS disconnect from administration to front line staff. When Slettum's letter to the editor clearly states that the work environment is why she resigned. It would be very naive of the board of directors if they DID NOT conduct some sort of job satisfaction surveys with the employees of MCMC. Did these long term employees just happen to become unhappy in their jobs? It's the board of directors job to dig to the root of the problem and find the common denominator.
