Chuck Moberg wanted to get a larger meat grinder than the one he had at home — so he bought his local meat locker. Moberg, along with his wife, Bonnie, purchased Gordies Meat Locker in Canby and has renamed the business Moberg Meat Market. Moberg used to work at Gordies Meat Locker in the late 1970s and early 1980s. While he knows his way around the business, he said having the original crew stay on was an important part of his decision to buy the locker. “We’ve got a real good crew here,” said Chuck Moberg. “It means a whole lot, we have a lot of experience just having these guys here. They’re teaching me as much as I’ll ever teach them. “For us, this is our first business,” he added. “I’m just glad all these guys are here. These are the guys that have been here and they are all experienced.” Longtime manager Jim Depestel will stay on as manager, Moberg said.
