Lockwood getting Cadillac franchise back
General Motors locations across Minnesota were given a new lease on life this week, as 20 auto dealers in Minnesota have received preliminary calls from General Motors saying their franchises will be reinstated as GM dealers. It also means Lockwood Motors in Marshall is getting back its Cadillac franchise. “We’ve been told we’re getting it back,” said Chet Lockwood of Lockwood Motors. “We got a phone call on Friday saying we were going to be reinstated as Cadillac dealers and we’re supposed to be getting a letter of reinstatement soon. “It’s great,” Lockwood added. “We’ve been a Cadillac dealer for 55 years; it’s one of the franchises my grandfather started. It’s a great product.” Lockwood said the last 18 months have been “pretty challenging. But we’ve got great customers in southwest Minnesota.” In all, 661 U.S. dealerships have been saved, or at least given the option to remain open.
