An empty glass jar, two kids, a garden and miracles can happen. I realize that at this time of the year we are all busy with, well everything, but sometimes it pays to slow down, listen to your kids instead of them listening to the adults in their lives and we, too, can learn a little something. This past week, I was truly amazed and was able to see something that happens around all of us all of the time, but many, many of us rarely get to see. It all started with the usual, “Mom, come quick,” followed by “Mom, bring a jar.” This generally means that either they found something or they are trying to catch something. I was still hoping that the dog was quicker then the junior master gardeners were in catching snakes. This is especially true since their dad and I made a deal with them that if they wanted a pet snake, they just had to catch their own.
