Springman is commencement speaker at SMSU
Michael Springman, a 1973 graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University, will be the 2008 commencement speaker on Saturday.
Commencement begins at 10 a.m. in the R/A Facility on campus. A total of 613 students will graduate from SMSU this year.
Springman is the chief information officer for Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector, one of seven divisions within the $32 billion global aerospace and technology company. Its 120,000 employees provide systems, products and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide.
Springman worked for 32 years in California before accepting a promotion a year ago and moving to northern Virginia. He works at the company’s Reston, Va., location.
Springman is from Lismore, a small community of 250 about 60 miles southwest of Marshall. He grew up on a dairy farm and attended Adrian High School.
