Draft Horse Show

The Murray County Classic Draft Horse Show is at 3 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 12, and 13, at the Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton. Gates both days open at 8 a.m. The early opening gives people an opportunity to view first hand all of the work that goes into getting a six-horse draft hitch ready for show. Hitches are coming from Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin. Ticket price is $5 per person or $15 for the family. There are two gates to accommodate spectators. The west gate, across from the Royal Loon (the pit gate for the race cars) is a drive-through, with parking available once the vehicle is on the grounds. The other gate, on the north end of the fair grounds, behind the high school, is for walk-in traffic.
