SMO’s concert season starts
October 27, 2009

The first concert of the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra's 40th anniversary season will commence at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the Schwan Community Center for the Performing Arts at Marshall High School. Featured will be the music of four composers (Purcell, Handel, Haydn, and Mendelssohn). Guest violin soloist Risa Schuchter from Salzburg, Austria, will play the Mendelssohn violin concerto. The orchestra will play its first concert with the new concertmaster, Bozhidar Shopov, who was recently appointed to the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra and is a native of Bulgaria.
