Area residents are invited the Lake Shetek State Park Pumpkin Festival from 1-4 p.m.
Children are invited to browse through 100s of pumpkins in search of the perfect one to decorate. The Lake Shetek Friend’s group will be available to help decorate the pumpkins.
Again this year, there will be a scarecrow decorating contest. Bring a creation from home or create one at the state park using leaves and other materials at the park. Some clothing items will be available, or bring your own from home. The scarecrows will be judged at 3:30 p.m. to compete for prizes in several categories.
The Pumpkin Festival events are sponsored by the Friends of Lake Shetek State Park and the Currie Town and Country. The event is free to the public; however, park permits will be required to enter the park. Permits are $5 for a daily or $25 for a yearly sticker and can be purchased at the park entrance.
Lake Shetek State Park is located 14 miles north-east of Slayton or 13 miles south of Tracy. Access to the park is by County Road 38, north of Currie. For more information call the park at 507-763-3256.
