| | Meteorological bluesFebruary 3, 2010 - Deb GauSo another Groundhog Day has come and gone. Phil the groundhog has yet again predicted six more weeks of winter, despite an animal-rights kerfuffle about the cruelty of parading a rodent in front of crowds and cameras. ('Cause you know Phil would be so much happier running from predators and pest control in the wild.) But I digress. Groundhog Day seems like such a waste of time from a Minnesotan perspective. Six more weeks of winter, eh? Let's see . . . that would put spring's arrival at about mid-March, right when our area is usually due for one last snowstorm. Punxsutawney Phil is a cute tradition, but I call foul. I've been trying to think of a Marshall-specific way to predict spring, but I'm coming up blank. I guess it's just like any other season in the upper Midwest: it'll get here eventually, except when it doesn't. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
