Boob Tube

The cable TV is up and running and my kids are in front of the tube looking like the townspeople from “The Hills Have Eyes.” In other words, mutant zombies. Dishes are piled high and the dining room table is covered in carp. Or a word like that.

Last night, I watched a smidgeon of an old Sophia Loren movie. The kids happened to be out of the house or I wouldn’t have been able to watch anything like that. She was really young and beautiful. They paired her with Alan Ladd. Yeah, right — a likely couple. The sparks flew. They were probably both working for a studio and were both free so they decided to pair up Loren, a lush, vivacious Italian woman and Alan Ladd, a puny, boring white guy. I didn’t get to watch more of the movie, “A Boy on a Dolphin,” so I didn’t see if Ladd got more interesting or virile. He should have stuck with westerns.
