Do you know Cindy Lou Who?
November 16, 2009 - Cindy Votruba
As I interviewed some Marshall High School students about the upcoming musical “Seussical,” I realized that I didn’t really read Dr. Seuss as a kid. In fact, I don’t think my family owned “The Cat in the Hat” or “Green Eggs and Ham.” Sure, I’ll recognize a few of the characters’ names, such as Horton or the Grinch, but beyond that, I’m at a loss. Mayzie LaBird? The Sour Kangaroo? I have to brush up on my Seuss characters and terminology.
But anyway, the kids have worked hard on bringing these favorite characters to life for the musical that opens Friday night at the Schwan Community Center for the Performing Arts. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. There’s also a special showing at 2 p.m. Saturday, where kids can get in free if they’re with a parent.
