Homegrown talent on display on BTN Saturday
November 13, 2009 - Per Peterson
If you get the Big Ten Network, tune into it at 11 a.m. on Saturday to watch the Gophers play against South Dakota State University and junior running back Kyle Minett. Doesn’t matter if you like football or not. Rare is the chances we get to watch one of our local products compete at such a high level against a Division I program on regional TV.
Minett, who was a standout multi-sport athlete at Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, is one of 10 Minnesotans on SDSU’s roster. He has rushed for nearly 950 yards this season and has scored 12 rushing touchdowns. He also has 118 yards receiving. It’s obvious from those stats that Minett is a key component in SDSU’s offense and should be on the field quite a bit.
Minett has proven he’s probably good enough to play for a Division I team like the Gophers and this is his chance to showcase his talents to the entire Upper Midwest.
So, even if you’re a die-hard Gophers fan, don’t be afraid to throw some hometown support behind the other team Saturday.
