I'm dating Sherlock Holmes
October 21, 2009 - Cindy Votruba
How many of you can say that? OK, Ross portrays Doyle’s infamous detective in the upcoming radio drama production of “The Hound of the Baskervilles” on Oct. 29-31. I’ve never read any of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries, but there are a few fans that I know of, one being one of the directors of the show and the other being, Dr. Martin.
The Marshall Area Stage Company started doing radio dramas in 2007, with “The Invisible Man.” MASC tries to make its radio show productions just like the ones people listened to back in the 1930s and 1940s, with sounds effects and everything. Pretty soon, the radio dramas have become a Halloween tradition. MASC partners with Marshall Radio, and now NBS at Southwest State, to put on the show.
This year, MASC has an original adaptation of the story, put together by Emilirose Rasmusson. The script continues to be a work in progress as the directors and actors go through rehearsal, but by next weekend, those who go to the show and listen to the broadcast on KMHL will be in for a Halloween treat. Showtime is 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 29-31 in CH 201 at SMSU.
