The national media is taking a beating for reporting on the “Balloon Boy.” Reporting on an unsubstantiated story.
It was an emergency as far as anyone knew. The cops thought it was a rescue situation and so did the media. During the time the balloon was aloft, there wasn’t time to substantiate the circumstances. It was the media who found the thread that unraveled the families’ story. The 6-year-old boy, Falcon, said he hid in the garage “for the show.”
If the cops second-guessed every situation, no one would get help right away.
It’s too bad that that wacko dad cried wolf because now when a 6-year-old boy really does climb into a flying saucer made with duct tape, the cops won’t be so quick to respond.
