Vick and Favre, Favre and Vick

August 17, 2009 - Per Peterson
Won’t these quarterbacks go away? Michael Vick is now an Eagle, even though he belongs nowhere near a football field, and Brett Favre’s name has come up again, even though, like Vick, he belongs nowhere near a football field, unless one of his horses runs away, finds a football field and starts grazing there. Reports have trickled out that Favre will become a Viking sometime during the preseason. One current Viking is even rumored to have said a deal with Favre is already done. At least we all pretty much expected this. We already knew he didn’t want to take part in training camp and that the Vikings and coach Brad Childress probably buckled to that request. It was merely a matter of time before Favre resurfaced into our daily lexicon. There’s no need to break down what Favre would do for the Vikings; everything’s been said on that. Actually, there’s really no need to say anything now, and even if he does sign. It’s all been talked about too much. This horse is not only dead, it’s buried and it’s started to decay. As for Vick, well, let’s just say score another one for pro athletes. Once again, we’re reminded that pro athletes can screw up in the worst, most inhumane way and eventually pick up their life where they left off.
