Rockin' With Itunes

June 11, 2009 - Cindy Votruba
I treated myself to a $25 Itunes gift card from part of the birthday money my parents sent me. Yesterday was the first time I ever bought anything from the Itunes store (yes, a big step for me). After buying one of the Sweet Colleens albums and Schuyler Fisk’s debut, I was left with $5.01 to spend.

For those of you who don’t know who the Sweet Colleens are, it’s a band based in the Twin Cities that plays really cool Irish-sounding tunes. As for Schuyler Fisk, she’s not only Sissy Spacek’s daughter, she’s also an actress and folksy singer in her own right.

But back to my $5.01...I started searching for some metal songs I used to listen to back in high school. I haven’t bought these songs yet, but I came across a couple of KISS songs I was to get — “Every Time I Look At You (kind of a sappy one for KISS, but I love it, my brother once had the CD it was on) and “Forever” which features Paul Stanley on lead vocals. I’m also pondering the purchase of Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford’s duet “If I Close My Eyes Forever.” I then looked for an album I thought I’d never find on Itunes — Tora Tora’s “Surprise Attack.” It’s on there. Probably my next full-length purchase when I add another gift card down the line. Yes, I was a bit of a metalhead back in the late ‘80s, mixed in with a little New Age.
