| | A throwbackMay 6, 2009 - Cindy VotrubaI remember that I started drinking Mountain Dew as a kid when my parents would split a couple of 16-ounce glass bottles with me and my brother to go along with whatever bag of chips we opened that night. What I probably don’t remember is the taste. I don’t really remember when Mt. Dew and Pepsi stopped using pure sugar as a sweetener and switched to high fructose corn syrup, but it must have been before those nights of watching TV, eating chips and sharing Mountain Dew. Recently, Pepsi and Mountain Dew have distributed Pepsi and Mountain Dew “Throwback,” where the pop is sweetened with sugar, just like it was in the 1960s and 1970s. I got a bottle at Dalager’s in Minneota this past Sunday. I’ve taken just a couple of sips and for some reason, it tastes like 7-up to me. Weird. Guess I’ve gotten used to the high fructose corn syrup. But for those interested in a “throwback,” it’s available for a limited time. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
