| | I'm all thumbsOctober 28, 2008 - Cindy VotrubaIn my efforts to get into the 21st century, I made my first attempt at text-messaging this past weekend. A friend of mine was in Appleton, Wis., so I had sent a quick hi. That led to about two days of going back and forth, trying to get my thumbs into action. I don’t know how kids do it. Here I was, stumbling over getting to the letter I needed. I would get hung up and unable to finish the word I intended to use. I mean, I learned to type in 10th grade typing class. I’ve used a keyboard for 20 years. I’m not used to typing with something that normally hits the space bar. I sort of have the hang of text-messaging. I don’t use capital letters or much punctuation, except for maybe an occasional period or question mark. But being the journalist and wordy person I am, I write out words. None of that chatspeak for me. OK, I did use ttyl. But remember, I just started texting for the first time on Friday night. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
