SignsYesterday morning I drove through Lynd with three of my children on our way to school and work in Marshall. Suddenly, from a side street a guy pulled into the road. He had stopped at a stop sign, but hadn’t seen my car right there in front of him. I braked and laid on my horn. He braked and we avoided a collision. I sounded my horn a bit too long. I wanted to tell him to pay better attention. He almost clocked a car with children in it. And what if it had been a child walking or biking to school right then? My daughter later said she saw the guy say, “I’m sorry,” but I didn’t see it. I still pressed the horn. He then flipped me the double bird and sped off. I’m guessing he probably regretted his actions a couple seconds later. I try to drive carefully and alertly, but I have done dumb things while driving and I have wished I had a sign to flash at the driver that I have offended to say, “I’m sorry.” I’d also like a sign that says “I’m uncomfortable with the lack of space between your front bumper and my back bumper and would you please ease up on your accelerator?” Maybe not.
