"All My General Lives to Live"

This week I took a day off from work. I turned the TV on and searched for Olympics coverage. A soap opera that I used to watch 30 or so years ago, “One Life to Live,” was on. I really used to watch “General Hospital” during the Luke and Laura days. My mom watched “All My Children” and she would talk about it.

I didn’t want to hear it because I knew I would get sucked in. I did. Before long I was watching the whole ABC soap roster — if you watch “All My Children” and “General Hospital,” you might as well watch the one in between, “One Life to Live.” That’s the one with Vicki who had the split personality. Her nemesis, Dorian, is still on the show. She looks the same. A lot of the other actors are still on and look the same although the producers should spend a little more money on the guys’ toupees. They look like coonskin hats perched on top of their heads. Lots of hair on those older actors’ heads.

One of those characters, Bo Buchanan, has found that he has traveled somehow to 1968. The 1968 Buchanans think he is the family’s patriarch, Asa. Bo has to wait for a thunderstorm to try to get back home.

Wish I could see what happens. See if Bo rides the right thunderbolt back to 2008. I wonder what Luke and Laura are up to. And if Erica Kane has finally found the right husband. No, no! Mustn't get sucked back into the soap opera vortex.
