That was close

March 26, 2014 - Karin Elton
This morning I knocked on the door of a house in Marshall to interview someone and I was greeted by a cheerful woman in a bathrobe.

I had looked in the phone book for the address and it directed me to a certain house on East Lyon. Somewhat taken aback by a bathrobed woman opening the door I said I was looking for the House of Hope. She said to come in and then explained that she had donated the children’s phone number to House of Hope years ago and then suddenly the phone book people decided to publish their address along with it.

She then called Claudia from House of Hope Minnesota after identifying herself as Janet and asked what the house number was, explaining that I had been directed to the wrong house by the phone book.

After getting the right address I went on my way — glad that it was the woman of the house who had appeared in a bathrobe instead of her hairy-legged husband.
