Disturbing trend

January 2, 2013 - Karin Elton
I was reading about the Hatfield-McCoy archaeological dig which turned up bullets and charred bits of the house where the feuding families had their final standoff.

Now the descendants are going to create a theme park on the land where the Hatfield house once stood. It’s great to have curiosity about an event in history, but I wish people weren’t so fascinated with violence.

There is going to be a new show on TV that I hope won’t do well in the ratings. I think Kevin Bacon is a great actor, so I would love to watch a TV show with him as the star. But the program is about serial killers and sounds pretty gruesome. I haven’t watched a full episode of the show, “Criminal Minds,” but what I did see was frightening and depressing.

Why shows like this are entertaining, or movies such as “Saw” or “Hostel” are popular, I don’t know. I wish people wouldn’t put their attention on this extreme negative behavior.
