| | hasBro, wants ovenDecember 12, 2012 - Karin EltonAnother news story that I love: McKenna Pope, a 13-year-old 8th-grader from Garfield, N.J., “started the petition when she went to buy an Easy-Bake Oven for her 4-year-old-brother, Gavyn Boscio, but discovered it comes only in purple and pink. She wants Pawtucket, R.I.-based Hasbro to feature boys on the box of the toy and to make it in gender-neutral colors,” according to The Associated Press. Well-known male chefs such as Bobby Flay are signing her online petition. Pope meets with Hasbro on Monday. I bet Hasbro will show her plans to make a more bro-friendly oven. This is a great story because it shows that one person, a teenager no less, can make a difference. And it also knocks out another stereotype that only women use the kitchen.
