Safe from Sandy

Here I groused to someone from the East Coast on the phone last week that I didn’t appreciate it snowing here — too early for even a flake, I thought. Look what those people have had to endure.

I have a niece-in-law who lives in Connecticut and she reported via Facebook that her electricity is still on and the trees are still rooted to the ground in her yard. Her husband, my nephew, happened to be in Las Vegas and can’t come back until the airlines deem it fit to travel again. Lucky for him his wife has juice or she might be pretty mad at him for luxuriating in sunny Nevada. Their daughter lives in Arlington, Va., and is fine also. Their other daughter was smart enough to move back to Minnesota to attend the U of M so she is safe and sound as well.
