Guilty Pleasure

I admit that I enjoy watching “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” on the TLC channel. The family is hilarious.

Honey Boo Boo is the nickname of a little girl called Alana Thompson from Georgia who wants a pageant crown and is willing to endure spray tans, mascara, wigs, clothes fittings and drinking a combination of Red Bull and Mountain Dew, that her mom called “GoGo Juice.”

There is obviously a lot to hate about the show, but I haven’t laughed out loud at a TV program in a long time.

For instance, Alana did an Elvis routine for the talent portion of a pageant and her outfitter asked the 6-year-old if she knew who Elvis was. Honey Boo Boo replied that Elvis helped Santa Claus make toys at Christmas time.

TLC put a camera on the whole family after observing their antics during “Toddlers and Tiaras” filming.

The family does like to have fun. One of the daughters bobbed for pigs feet during the Redneck Olympics followed by jumping into a muddy pond.

It will be interesting to see how the infusion of large sums of money from appearing on the show changes the family.
